About

Juan's shop, since 2004.

Juan Aguilar Flores has been fixing serious machinery since the late nineties: first as a mechanic in the Marine Corps, then as a Kenworth-certified truck technician in Portland, then through Mercedes-Benz's own technician programme. Apex has been his shop in Cottage Grove since 2004, as comfortable with a Maybach as with a work truck.

He'd rather explain what's wrong in plain words than hand you a list of codes, and every car on the lift is treated like his own.

Questions

Things people ask before they call

Straight answers. Anything else, just ask.

What drivers sayRead our Google reviews

Do you give estimates before starting work?

Yes. For a known job, brakes, tires, an oil change, a part you already know is worn, we quote it up front. When the cause isn't known yet, a diagnostic is needed first; then we give you the estimate for the repair. Either way nothing happens until you say go, and if we find something else along the way we call you first.

When is a diagnostic needed, and what is it?

When the cause of a problem isn't known yet. It's the technician's time reading the codes, testing, and tracing the fault to its actual cause rather than just clearing a light. Diagnostic time is billed by the hour, and most faults are found within the first hour. You get a clear explanation and a written estimate for the fix, and you decide what happens next.

What makes and models do you work on?

Everyday makes like Chevy, Ford and Toyota, and European cars like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. If you're not sure about yours, call and ask.

Do I need an appointment?

We always recommend one. We work by schedule, so booking ahead means your time isn't spent waiting and ours isn't spent rushing, and it lets us have parts ready. We can sometimes make an exception for a walk-in, but there are other cars in the shop at any given time, so we can't promise yours will be looked at that day. Call or send a message and we'll book you in.

How long will my repair take?

Oil changes and inspections booked ahead are usually same day. Anything that needs a diagnostic first can't be promised same day: finding the fault takes its own slot on the schedule, and the repair is booked once you've approved the estimate. Bigger jobs depend on parts; we give you a realistic time when we quote, and we let you know if it changes. A car that hasn't been serviced in a while may need more than one visit.

Can you tell me what a warning light means?

That's what the diagnostic is for. We read the codes, find the cause rather than just clearing the light, and explain it in plain words. A light that needs tracing means a diagnostic first; the estimate for the repair comes with it.
